Registration Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

[+]  Registration Tools: Where do I register for courses?

  1. Login to LOIS via www.lssc.edu
  2. Click on the Student Tab
  3. Select a Term (summer or fall) for which you are planning to register and click the Submit button.
  4. Click on Registration – Add/Drop – Course Withdrawal Tools

[+]  Registration Status: Do I have any holds or required verifications that would prevent me from registering?

  1. Before beginning the registration process, always make sure you are eligible to register in LOIS.
  2. Click on the Registration Status link.
  3. Select a Term (summer or fall) for which you are planning to register and click the Submit button.
  4. If you see only green check marks, you are ready to register. If you have any holds, click the View Holds link at the bottom of the screen to see who placed the hold.

[+]  Registration Entry Times: When can I register for courses?

    Registration Dates for Summer 2016:

  • Current students with 45+ credit hours may begin registration on 03/14/2016 at 9am
  • Current students with 0+ credit hours may begin registration on 03/21/2016 at 9am
  • Open registration begins on 03/28/2016 at 9am
  •  

    Early Registration Dates for Fall 2016:

  • Current students with 45+ credit hours begins on 03/14/2016 at 9am
  • Current students with 0+ credit hours begins on 03/21/2016 at 9am
  • Early registration will close on 05/10/2016 at 11:59pm
  • Registration for fall 2016 resumes on 07/11/2016 at 9am
  • Open registration begins on 07/25/2016 at 9am

[+]  Look Up Classes: What courses are being offered?

  • You may search the classes offered for summer and fall 2016 by accessing the LSSC website (www.lssc.edu) and selecting the Class Schedule button.
  • Write down the 5 digit CRNs for selected courses that you will be adding during registration.

[+]  Registering for a Class: How can I register for a class?

  1. Click on the Student tab in LOIS.
  2. Click on the Select a Term for Course Registration and Course Withdrawal.
  3. From the drop down menu select the term (summer or fall) to add the course.
  4. Click Submit Changes.
  5. Click on the Register for Classes link.
  6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and enter the CRNs of the courses located under the ADD Classes Worksheet section.
  7. lick on the Submit Changes button to register into the courses.
  8. Now that you are registered for a selected term, you may repeat this action to register for an alternate term.

[+]  Dropping Classes: I know the CRN(s) for the course I want. Do I have to use Look Up Classes?

  1. To drop a class you do not need to look up the CRN. All registered classes will appear on LOIS.
  2. Select the Registration Term from the drop-down box and click Submit.
  3. Click on the Register for Classes link.
  4. Your Current Schedule will appear at the bottom of the page.
  5. Locate the course that you wish to drop and under the Action section choose the Drop Via Web action.
  6. Click Submit Changes.
  7. You will now notice that the course will have a new message displayed indicating that you have dropped the course via web.
  8. Note: At the end of the drop/add deadline, the Action box link option will change to Web Withdrawal. Dropping a course after the official drop/add deadline results in a withdrawal (W) from the course. Students may voluntarily withdraw from individual courses until the official withdrawal deadline for the semester. See the Academic Calendar for deadlines.

[+]  Error Messages

    Error messages may appear on the Add or Drop Classes screen after you click Register or Submit Changes for a course. They will be indicated by a red circle with a white exclamation point.

  • Co-requisite or pre-requisite error: you are missing a co-requisite or pre-requisite for the course.
    • In order to solve a co-requisite courses you will have to register for courses that must be taken at the same time. For example, registration must occur for NUR 2601 and NUR 2601L at the same time.
    • To solve a pre-requisite error, you must register for the prerequisite for the earliest term and the second course in the preceding term. For example, you must first register for BSC 1010C for the summer term, and then add BSC1011C for the fall term.
  • Maximum hours exceeded error: This means you have exceeded the maximum credit hours you are eligible to register for. (17 hours)
  • Time conflict error: The system tells you which class you are already registered for that is causing the time conflict.

  1. Click on the Student tab in LOIS.
  2. Click on the Select a Term for Course Registration and Course Withdrawal.
  3. From the drop down menu select the term to add the course.
  4. Click Submit Changes.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Detailed Schedule.
